Pulmonary Embolization (Blood Clots in Lungs): Symptoms. Causes. Diagnosis. Types. Pathophysiology. Medications. Complications. Treatment.

Ventilation/Perfusion (V/Q) Scan

Ventilation/perfusion (V/Q) scan is a test that doctors use if CTPA is not available or is not a suitable option for a certain patient. A radioactive material is used to determine which areas of the patient’s lung are receiving proper ventilation or blood flow. A clot may be developing if there is a reduced blood flow but normal air flow in an area of your lungs.
