Low blood pressure
A severe hypotension can result from repeated or extensive pulmonary embolism, causing the patient to feel faint and dizzy. Low blood pressure is a common occurrence due to the extensive blockage of pulmonary blood vessels. Low blood pressure is a clear sign of a reduced cardiac output. As the vasomotor response increases against pulmonary embolism, there is a decrease in systemic arterial resistence. The severe drop in blood-pressure is one of the leading causes of death among pulmonary embolism victims.
