Pulmonary Embolization (Blood Clots in Lungs): Symptoms. Causes. Diagnosis. Types. Pathophysiology. Medications. Complications. Treatment.

Cyanosis (Discolored or Clammy Skin)

Medically, cyanosis is the discoloration of skin or the clammy feeling that occurs when deoxygenated skin blood circulates. The blockage of blood vessel by clots within the lungs leads to lower oxygen levels which are more blueish than red. This gives the skin and nails of patients with pulmonary embolism a blue tint. It is important to rule out other lung conditions that can cause cyanosis before confirming your diagnosis.
