Chemotherapy
Chemotherapy is the use of specific compounds to eliminate cancer cells. Utilizing systematic chemotherapy aids in the elimination of cancer cells. Systemic chemotherapy spreads throughout the body and has the potential to shrink or delay the growth of mesothelioma tumors. Chemotherapy eliminates malignancies that are not amenable to surgical removal. Neoadjuvant chemotherapy refers to the chemotherapy administered prior to surgery to facilitate the surgical procedure. In contrast, if chemotherapy is administered after surgery, it is known as adjuvant chemotherapy and is intended to reduce the likelihood of cancer recurrence. Intraperitoneal chemotherapy is the process of heating chemotherapy medications and then administering them directly into the abdominal cavity of peritoneal mesothelioma patients.
