Rounded atelectasis
The term rounded atelectasis, also known as lung folding, refers to the partial collapse of the lungs. It is a common respiratory complication among mesothelioma patients for persistent pleural thickening and pleural effusion to cause a partial collapse of the airways. Several physical therapies or surgical procedures are of great assistance in addressing the cause of this complication. In addition, the studies indicate that asbestos exposure causes 30% to 86% of mesothelioma patients to develop rounded atelectasis.
