Several studies indicate that the majority of mesothelioma patients are male, but the exact reason for this disparity remains unknown. The primary reason more men are diagnosed with mesothelioma is because more men work in the military and other occupations that expose them to more asbestos. The higher prevalence of mesothelioma in males may also be attributable to the disease’s genetic component.
