This is a sterile solution that is inhaled through a nebulizer with hypertonic saline. The salt draws water from the adjacent tissue to thin the lung mucus.
Pulmozyme is a purified enzyme that increases viscosity in the airways and dilutes accumulated mucus. However, it may cause temporary voice loss or alteration, a runny nose, a rash, and vertigo.
