Overview, Symptoms, Causes, Risk Factors, Complications, Diagnosis, Home Remedies, Treatment, and Prevention of Urinary Tract Infection

Types Of Urinary Tract Infections

UTIs are urinary tract infections that are typically caused by bacteria and fungi. Depending on the location of the infections, the various forms of urinary tract infections can include:

Chronic urethritis

The condition urethritis refers to an infection of the urethra. Urethra is the conduit in both sexes that transports urine from the kidneys and bladder to the exterior of the body. In urethritis, the urethra becomes inflamed and irritated. The primary cause of urethral infection is bacterial invasion. Urethritis is characterised by moderate to severe discomfort during urination and an increased need to urinate.

Urethritis is known to affect individuals of both sexes and all ages. However, statistical data indicate that females are more likely to contract the infection than males. This is due in part to the fact that men’s urethras, which are lengthier than the shaft of the penis, are significantly longer than those of women. The average length of a woman’s urethra is one and a half centimetres. This is the reason why bacteria can readily infect a woman’s urethra and other organs.
