Menopause
Because their oestrogen and progesterone levels are dwindling, postmenopausal and menopausal women are susceptible to urinary tract infections (UTIs). These hormonal alterations in the body are responsible for the dryness of the vaginal wall and urethra. These fluctuations are caused by the dryness of the urinary tract and foster the development of infection-causing bacteria.
A woman in menopausal transition who experiences urinary pain or difficulty passing urination may have a urinary tract infection (UTI).
