Eric only found out about this after someone began to knock on his door loudly. Eric was sure it wasn’t the police because they would have made themselves more known.

These people were with Stacy. There was no doubt about that. The police were probably ordered to immediately pass this information on to Stacy’s or her assistants. Whatever the case may be, Eric knew he needed to get out of her.
