Digging it out
Mark began to carefully excavate around the metallic object, and it became clear that this was not a normal utility obstruction. It was not a pipe or a conventional underground installation. Mark was stunned by the sheer size of this object. Despite his progress, he felt that he hadn’t even begun to uncover the true extent of his discovery.
Each shovelful of earth that he removed seemed like a hint that he might be about to uncover something monumental. He realized that he had not even begun to scratch the surface.
