Eyedrops

Eye drops
These supplements help to lubricate the corneal surface of an eyes. Tear supplements are the first line of treatment for dry eyes. They can be purchased without a prescription.
Punctual plugs
This is a small silicone or gel plug that blocks the tear ducts, preventing the drainage of tears from the eye. It helps to keep the eye moist.
Autologous Serum Eye Drops
These eye drops are created by using the blood of individuals. The goal is to create tear supplements that are as close to real tears of a person as possible.
Anti-inflammatory Agents
Dry eyes can be caused by inflammation or obstruction of tear production. Eye doctors (ophthalmologists) may prescribe eye drops or medications such as liftiegrast or cyclosporine.
To reduce the risk of dryness after surgery, it is important to follow your eye doctor’s instructions and take any prescribed medication. Steps that can reduce the risk of developing dryness in the eyes include:
- Sleeping enough
- Drink as much water as possible to keep yourself hydrated
- Avoiding dry environments
- Use of a humidifier
- When going outside, wear sunglasses to protect your eyes from any irritations.
Evidence suggests that essential fatty acid intake, such as omega-3 fatty acid, may reduce symptoms of dry eye in many people. These fatty acids can be taken by eating foods such as tuna or salmon, or taking supplements.
