Eating a bland diet
Vomiting and vertigo are two influenza symptoms that may be alleviated by consuming less spicy food and meals that are more easily digestible. Eating bland foods makes it easier for the stomach to digest food, and since the body is already under duress from fighting off viruses, eating bland foods is a relief. Gelatin, soup or broth, boiled potatoes, crackers, bananas, toast, applesauce, rice, cooked cereals, grilled poultry, and electrolyte-rich beverages are stomach-friendly foods. As the body is already depleted of energy, it requires basic carbohydrates and avoids foods that may cause stomach irritation. Milk, cheese, spicy foods, meats, stimulants, alcohol, fried and fatty foods should be avoided.
