Oncolytic Virus Therapy
In oncolytic virus therapy, viruses that have been modified in the laboratory are used to destroy cancer cells. The doctor injects the genetically modified virus into the cancer cells, at which point the virus begins to replicate by invading the cancer cells. As a result, the cancer cells burst and eventually perish. The virus cannot infect or damage healthy cells.
