Extreme itching around the anal area
The internal hemorrhoids that prolapse in the prolapsed type hemorrhoids produce mucus which causes itching of the anus area and the anal region. If the hemorrhoids remain prolapsed then the mucus will continue to be produced and the itching will continue as the mucus irritates sensitive skin on the anal lining. Itching is increased if mucus and stool are combined, as the mucus will irritate the entire rectum.
