Sitting on the toilet for longer periods of time:
Spending a lot of time on the toilet seat to expel the faeces puts significant pressure on your rectum and the anus. As you sit longer on the toilet, your rectum will be in a lower place than the rest. Gravity takes over and blood pools, causing clotting of the veins. These blood clots, or thrombosis, are the cause of hemorrhoids that form in the lower rectum region and the anal region.
