Achilles tendon repair
When the Achilles tendon is severed from the heel bone, a surgical procedure may be required to reconnect the tendon. Surgery for Achilles tendon is more effective than non-surgical treatments. During surgery, the surgeon will either stitch the damaged tendon to heel bone or remove it. Or, he may take a tendon and attach it to the heel and calf. Achilles tendon surgeries can have a number of side effects.
- Weakness of the calf
- Blood loss
- Ankle and foot pain
