Weakness
As the jerky movements, hyperflexion, and extension of the extremities associated with seizures result from the rapid neuronal discharge, the neural pathways quickly become fatigued after such a high level of activity. This causes the same muscles that were subjected to uncontrolled, rapid, jerky contractions to feel feeble. Afterward, the muscles may become flaccid and lax due to a loss of tension necessary to maintain muscle strength. This lethargy is also temporary, and as the ictal phase subsides, the neural currents restore impulse transmission to the muscles, relieving them of their fatigue.
