Brain infections
Viruses, bacteria, fungi, and parasites can infect the brain and induce seizures. These seizures could be the result of toxins emitted by the pathogens or a metabolic imbalance caused by the inflammatory response to the infection. Acute infection and inflammation can be managed with prompt intervention. In cases where a mild infection persists in a dormant state, however, it may reverse brain tissue injury. This can result in delayed, unprovoked seizures after the infection has resolved. Epilepsy is diagnosed when such delayed, unprovoked multiple seizures occur. Common infectious agents that can cause brain injury, encephalitis, and meningitis include:
Virus Herpes simplex
The Cytomegalovirus
The disease known as toxoplasmosis
The disease known as cysticercosis
Haemophilia pandemic influenza
