Other associated risks
All voluntary and involuntary activities require coordinated muscle activity. The loss of coordination during a seizure can pose a significant risk to other daily activities. The following are examples of common associated conditions in epileptic patients:
Seizures that occur while standing or walking can lead to accidents. Bone fractures, abrasions, etc., are additional complicated results of a fall.
Similarly, a seizure while driving can result in a loss of vehicle control and an accident. This can have severe consequences, jeopardising the patient and others’ lives.
