Avoiding Drugs
Certain individuals are hypersensitive to specific substances. In the United States, drugs were the leading cause of anaphylaxis-related fatalities. Avoiding these medications can help prevent anaphylaxis. Antibiotics and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) account for the majority of anaphylactic reactions. The patient should inform the physician about the allergenic medications and request alternative treatments.
