Anti-histamines
Various additional pharmacological agents can be used to treat and manage various anaphylactic symptoms. All of these agents, however, function as adjuvants and are unreliable when used alone.
Antihistamines inhibit the action of histamines on different receptors. There are no reliable data regarding its effectiveness. Antihistamines can effectively alleviate the symptoms of hives, eczema, and other skin conditions. However, they are not believed to alleviate the symptoms of airway edoema.
Some subclasses of these pharmaceuticals have the potential for side effects like sedation.
