Cardiovascular complications
Myocardial infarction is an additional catastrophic possibility associated with anaphylactic shock. As a result of mediator-induced effects on the vessels, cardiac filling is diminished. Inability to correctly fill prevents the heart from pumping blood to all organs, including itself. Additionally, arrhythmias can confound this mechanism and lead to a heart attack.
