Behavioral Alterations
All mental disorders are associated with alterations in behavioral patterns. A significant change in this regard is the patient’s loss of enthusiasm for activities in which he or she once took great pleasure. Avoiding the public eye and introversion are also examples of changes. The patient feels most at ease in seclusion. However, solitude tends to further concentrate the mind on apprehensive thoughts.
Patients with anxiety may also avoid requesting for assistance, even when they require it. They may have a tendency to isolate themselves and feel uncomfortable discussing their problems. Self-imposed restrictions on leisure activities can have a significant impact on satisfaction levels. Professional advancement may be hindered by missed opportunities due to anxiety attacks.
