Types & Stages of Gout
There are several stages in the progression of gout, and these are sometimes referred to as various types of gout. Although a patient may exhibit symptoms from one or two distinct forms of gout, the majority of these symptoms overlap. Following is a summary of five distinct forms of gout:
Hyperuricemia devoid of symptoms
It is possible for a person to have elevated uric acid levels in their blood without manifesting symptoms. Patients with asymptomatic hyperuricemia-type gout do not require any form of treatment. Although uric acid crystals continue to deposit in joints and tissues, the risk of harm is minimal. However, maintaining a healthy diet and avoiding purine-rich foods can prevent the progression of gout at this stage. Doctors may advise patients with asymptomatic hyperuricemia to take precautions against potential causes of uric acid accumulation.
