Hypertension
The increase in serum uric acid levels in hypertension or elevated blood pressure may be attributable to the decreased renal blood circulation that occurs in this condition. As a result of the reduced renal blood circulation, urate reabsorption is stimulated to a greater extent. In addition to causing microvascular disease, hypertension ultimately results in tissue ischemia.
