Physical exercise
Exercise is essential for so many reasons; it is beneficial for people of all ages. Inactive individuals are 70% less likely to develop macular degeneration, according to research conducted at the University of Wisconsin. The research began in 1988 and followed 4,000 men and women between the ages of 43 and 86. Over the course of 15 years, regular eye examinations and exercise recordings were conducted.
Taking into account all factors and aspects, including age, gender, history of arthritis, body mass index, smoking, and systolic blood pressure, individuals who walked at least three times per week were 70% less likely to develop macular degeneration than those who did little or no exercise.
Physical activity in elderly age is essential for a long and healthy life. Physical activity aids in maintaining a healthful weight. It helps regulate blood sugar and blood pressure, both of which contribute to macular degeneration.
