Although there is strong evidence that certain vitamins and lifestyle changes can reduce the risk of vision disease, there is no medical treatment for macular degeneration after its onset; however, there are a few steps that can be taken to slow the progression of the disease if the condition is diagnosed early.
Anti-Angiogenic Medication
The medications are injected directly into the eye; they prevent the leakage of new aberrant blood vessels, which occurs in wet macular degeneration. Several studies have demonstrated that individuals with AMD recover their lost vision. The patient may require recurrent treatment during subsequent visits.
