The technique of Optical Coherence Tomography
It is a noninvasive imaging method that provides a cross-sectional image of the retina. The image is created by precisely measuring the quantity of dim red light that the retina reflects.
OCT is an effective method for measuring the thickness of the nerve layer; it also provides valuable information regarding drusen, blood vessels, retinal structure, and haemorrhaging.
The individual places their chin on the machine and looks into the lens during the procedure. The OCT scan is painless and takes only a few minutes per eye. The entire process takes approximately 45 minutes.
