Modest Distortion
Another early sign of AMD that is commonly observed is a subtle distortion of central vision. A straight line has the appearance of being curved. For instance, a door frame may appear to have a curved area due to a small retinal elevation that causes light to fall on the wrong portion of the retina when travelling in a straight line. The straight lines appear curved, and the vision is hazy.
