Dark Adaptation Delay
The inability to see in the dark is a prevalent symptom that is often difficult to detect. It takes time for a person to acclimatise to darkness; this is known as delayed dark adaptation. In this condition, the retina takes longer than normal to adjust when the eyes transition from a bright to a dim environment.
A simple illustration of this is a person’s difficulty seeing the seats upon entering a dark movie theatre after having been exposed to intense light. In approximately 30 minutes, the vision will gradually return, and the individual will be able to see plainly.
