Nerves also carry sound from the ear and interpret it into useful information. Any brain tumor that presses on the eighth nerve can cause hearing loss. It is most commonly attributed to acoustic Neuroma which is a rare type of brain tumor that affects the nerve responsible for balance and hearing. The condition can progress to both ears, and the symptoms may range from a simple buzzing sound in the ears up to complete loss of hearing.
