Vision Disturbance
Vision problems are another common complaint among patients with brain tumours. The following symptoms can be experienced by patients that get worse over time:
- Blurred Vision
- Double vision
- Eye movements that are not coordinated normally
- Photophobia or light sensitivity
- Blindness, total or partial
If the tumor presses against the optic nerve, it can cause vision problems. The tumor may also cause an increase in fluid pressure within the brain which, in turn can compress the structures of the vision pathway. It can cause swelling in the optic disc, which is responsible for image perception in the retina. The perception of images can be affected by a tumor in the occipital brain lobe, which is responsible for the interpretation of vision.
