Next Steps
Henry was able to think about his next step after all of the tests were completed on his daughter. She appeared to be in good health. He couldn’t wait for the world to see his new daughter. He felt a sense of warmth and joy every time he saw her. Her face was so adorable and cute, he was melted by her.
Henry was equally excited for Tommy, his son who was thrilled to have a sister. Henry talked about the fun things that they would do with each other and was excited to watch them grow together. He was certain that they would become the best of buddies. Henry also looked forward to the many new experiences that would come with having a child. He imagined all the fun activities they would have together, including shopping trips and tea parties. He knew she would bring joy and laughter to their lives.
The car
Both father and son were in the car. Henry wanted to know more about his son’s words, so he began cautiously. Are you proud of your mother? Tommy nodded in agreement, as he was nearly unable to speak due to fatigue. Henry asked slyly: “But you’re never proud of your mother, aren’t you?” The way children speak can be quite shocking for adults. Children are very direct and blunt in their communication. They don’t often think about the consequences.
Henry’s son and he had a difficult conversation in the car. Children don’t always consider the impact of their words and don’t often think about what they might mean to someone else. It can cause some awkward conversations, but also some open and honest dialogue. Remember that children may not understand what they say because they are still learning to communicate.
