Changing lifestyle

Changing one’s lifestyle is crucial for managing atopic dermatitis. These foods can provoke the symptoms of atopic dermatitis, so avoid them. Avoid restrictive clothing and fabrics that irritate the skin, such as synthetic fibre and wool, which can exacerbate itching and inflammation. As skin loses moisture and becomes dry and scaly, moisturising the skin reduces itching and dehydration. Utilise high-quality creams and lubricants to keep the skin moisturised. Additionally, a heated bath dries out the skin; therefore, apply oils or moisturisers after taking a bath. Avoid using harsh detergents and surfactants, and cleanse the fabric thoroughly, to prevent a skin reaction. As stress can contribute to the development of atopic dermatitis, avoiding emotional tension is recommended.
