Anti-inflammatory drugs/ Corticosteroids
Anti-inflammatory medications, such as corticosteroid ointment, are used to treat severe conditions and severe inflammation in the body. Within a few days, corticosteroids aid to reduce inflammation. Corticosteroids are available in various strengths and are prescribed based on the severity of the infection and the area of skin afflicted. Corticosteroids’ strengths include;

Moderate – The moderate formulation is typically applied to the epidermis and contains betamethasone valerate and clobetasone butyrate.
It contains a high concentration of betamethasone valerate and clobetasone butyrate.
Diflucortolone and clobetasol propionate are included in this category.
However, these corticosteroids may cause adverse effects; therefore, they should not be used without a doctor’s prescription.
In addition to corticosteroid moisturisers, tablets are also used to treat severe flare-ups of eczema and psoriasis today. However, these tablets are only prescribed for a brief duration, until the severe flare-up is under control.
