Skin Allergy Test
This test does not aid in the diagnosis of atopic dermatitis, but it does indicate whether you are allergic to a specific allergen. When performing a scratch test, a tiny quantity of allergen is injected under the skin with the aid of a needle. The scrape test indicates an allergic reaction of the skin if the skin becomes red or inflamed within 20 minutes. While the reaction to a patch test can be observed after 72 hours. However, since non-allergic skin irritation is prevalent among individuals with atopic dermatitis, the tests are deemed to be entirely accurate.
After receiving the test results, the physicians take additional measures to prevent the spread of atopic dermatitis. Depending on the type and severity of the infection, they may recommend medication or any other treatment.
