An In-Depth Guide To Atopic Dermatitis

Symptoms Of Atopic Dermatitis

Red skin, rashes, and irritation are the most frequent symptoms of atopic dermatitis in individuals of all ages. Nevertheless, the symptom can differ based on the severity of the disease and the precipitating factors. Occasionally, the symptoms improve, only to ultimately worsen. Common sites of atopic dermatitis include the palms, the backs of the knees, and the insides of the elbows. The severity of the disease differs from person to person; in some cases, only mild rashes appear, while in others, the entire affected area becomes inflamed and burns.

Itchy, flaky skin

Dry and itchy skin is one of the most prevalent symptoms of atopic dermatitis. Dryness can be caused by the loss of hydration or any other factor. Itching occurs when the skin becomes dried and scaly. Continuous irritation damages the skin’s cells and makes it more susceptible to infection. A genetic disorder or environmental condition may be the cause of atopic dermatitis, but regardless of the cause, the skin becomes irritated and dried. Continuous itching and clawing of the skin result in the formation of a rash, and even though a person may believe that scratching will help, it actually makes the skin more susceptible to infection. Increased skin cell injury will make the skin more sensitive, making it easier for foreign substances to penetrate, thereby aggravating the situation.
