Turmeric is a spice that comes from turmeric. Most commonly, it is used in Asian cuisine. Turmeric is a common spice in curries. The bitter, warming taste is used in curries, butters, mustards and cheeses. The turmeric root can also be used to make a variety of medicines. The yellow chemical Curcumin is used in food and cosmetics. Turmeric can also be used to treat joint pain, stomach pain, liver problems (dyspepsia), jaundice and loss of appetite. It is also prescribed for Crohn’s Disease, arthritis, intestinal gas or diarrhea. Helicobacter (H.pylori), gallbladder disorders, IBS, high cholesterol, stomach ulcers and gallbladder disease. Also, it is used for headaches, lung infection, leprosy and itchy skin. It can also be used to treat cancers, fibromyalgia or bronchitis. Alzheimer’s, depression, swelling of the middle layer of an eyeball (anterior Uveitis), diabetes, water retention, kidney problems, worms and urinary bladder inflammation are also included in its functions.
Turmeric is used by many people to treat ringworm, swellings and pains. It can also be used for acne, eye infections. bruising, sores on the skin, inflammations of the skin, wounds infected, gum disease and mouth sores. Turmeric can also be used as an enema by people with inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD). The oil from turmeric is used to make perfumes and its resin as a flavoring and color in food. Turmeric is made up of Curcumin. Turmeric and its chemicals, such as curcumin, may reduce swelling (inflammation) in certain diseases. Turmeric may therefore be crucial for treating conditions that are characterized by inflammation.
Researchers recommend that eating turmeric extract two times daily for about 3 months will lower total cholesterol and triglycerides, as well as low-density cholesterol (LDL). This is especially true in obese individuals with increasing cholesterol. Researchers also suggest that taking turmeric three times a day for about 8 weeks will reduce itching among individuals with long-term kidney diseases. Initial research also suggests that taking C3 Complex (Sami Labs Ltd, C3 Complex), a significant combination of Curcumin and long pepper or black powder, each day for four weeks, can reduce itching severity. It may even improve the quality of life of individuals with chronic itching caused by mustard gas.
Some research has shown that turmeric extracts alone or in combination other herbal ingredients can reduce pain and improve function in people with osteoarthritis. In some studies, turmeric was found to be as effective as ibuprofen in reducing osteoarthritis-related pain. It does not work like diclofenac to function and improve pain in people with osteoarthritis. Some research suggests that taking turmeric powder four times daily for about 8 weeks will not increase stomach ulcers. Consuming powdered Turmeric four times daily for six weeks appears to be less effective than taking a conventional antiacid.
